Introduction: Kerala is a land of great natural beauty. It starts from the Western Ghats and descends downwards and towards west that presents a glorious view of green hills and peaceful ambience. Located in the South Western Indian peninsula, Kerala is an educationally advanced state with its own language Malayalam, and has the highest rate of literacy among Indian states. Annai Mudi, the highest peak in the Peninsular, lies in Kerala. Kerala’s Thekkady Wildlife Sanctuary attracts many tourists from all over the world. Another major attraction is the annual boat race that is perhaps a must-watch.

History: Kerala officially became state of India in the year 1956. Before that, the state had three separate areas. Malabar is upward near Tellicherry, Cannanore and Kasargode. There was also a small state known as the Mahe, which was ruled by the British. This was formerly called the Madras Presidency, when it was under the Raj. In the middle portion, you will find the Cochin, while the last one consists of Travancore. Both of these are princely states. There is a persistent legend which says that Parasuram, the 6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu, stood on a high place in the mountains, threw an axe far in to the sea, and commanded the sea to retreat. Thereafter, the land that came up from water was named Kerala.

Places of interest: A bunch of finest beaches in Kerala offer ultra entertainment to the visitors coming from across the world. Kovalam Beach is one of the world’s famous beaches of world. This beach is has scenic blue waters and many coconut tress, plus stunning beach. This beach was once visited by hippies from all over the world. Chowara Beach is popularly known as a Virgin Beach, situated 9 kms south of Kovalam Beach. It offers a harmonious combination of nature where one can enjoy greeneries, silent sea breeze and the smooth surf. Apart from enticing beaches, some magnificent monuments like Alwaye Palace; Bolghatty Palace can attract heritage lovers.

Travel information: Kerala is one of the smallest states in the Republic of India. It is bordered by the states of Karnataka on the north, Tamil Nadu on the east and Arabian Sea to the west. The climate of Kerala is equable and varies from season to season. Ayurvedic resorts in and around Kerala are the best places to get Ayurvedic elixir with world-class facilities.
