Introduction: Just 96 km from Udaipur, Ranakpur is renowned for its magnificent temples of dazzling white marble. It has a four-temple complex. It is famous for its peaceful and harmonious surroundings, away from villages and towns. It is also a place that portrays the Jainism. It is arguably the most serene pilgrimage place, as there are no disturbing crowds, or shopping areas replete with people, and to surprise to many, even no beggars. You can go and worship here for hours and hours together. Another thing to see here is the architecture. It is least to say wonderful, if not awe-inspiring. It is almost as beautiful as Dilwara Temple of Mt Abu.

History: Ranakpur is named after Rana Kumbha whom Dharna Sah, a Jain businessman, approached when he had the vision of his great temple to ask for the land for its construction. Ranakpur has some of the most beautifully-carved Jain Temples in the whole of country. It is also one of the holy places of the Jains. These temples almost 700 years old. Ranakpur is  near Phana railway station and lies in the ranges of Pali. On your way to Ranakpur you will see many lush green valleys and water streams that give a feeling of smoothness.

Places of Interest: The Ranakpur Jain Temple is one of the sacred temples in India. This splendid complex holds an exceptional beauty, which is well worth seeing, and makes for a convenient stop between Jodhpur and Udaipur. It is located away in faraway and serene valley of the Aravalli Range. Eight kms away from Ranakpur, Sadri is famous for some beautiful temples like Varahavatar Temple and Chintamani Parsvanath Temple, and old dargah of Khudabaksh Baba. The small town of Ghanerao has a castle that has been converted into a hotel. A notable here is the temple of Gajanand with a life-size statue of the goddesses Ridhi and Siddhi.

Travel information: Ranakpur is fairway away in a valley in the Aravali Range. It is situated around 90 km north of Udaipur in Pali district and boasts of one of the largest and most important Jain Temples in the country. The place is well connected through a road network to other places in the region. Udaipur Airport is the nearest airport from Ranakpur. The best time to visit Ranakpur is in between September to March. There is a heritage hotel in Ranakpur, equipped with air conditioned rooms and multi cuisine restaurant.
